How to use the five Communication Style sliders to set exactly how Maia writes and talks, on every channel.
Maia shouldn't sound like a generic AI assistant. She should sound exactly the way you want her to. The Communication Style sliders let you decide how she writes and talks, whether that's tight and formal or warm and playful, and whatever you set applies everywhere she shows up.
You'll find it under Settings, on the Maia tab, in the Communication Style section.
The five dials
Each slider tunes a different part of how Maia communicates. Here's what the two ends of each one mean.
🗣️ Verbosity - Detailed to Concise. Slide towards Detailed and Maia gives you context and explanation. Slide towards Concise and she keeps it tight, a few sentences or bullet points, no padding.
🎭 Tone - Serious to Playful. Serious keeps her formal and professional with no jokes. Playful lets her loosen up, be casual, and bring humour in.
💬 Style - Chatty to Direct. Chatty means she builds rapport and eases into things. Direct means she leads with the answer and skips the preamble.
🎨 Creativity - Safe to Bold. Safe sticks to proven, conservative approaches. Bold lets her suggest unexpected, experimental ideas.
📊 Data - Metrics to Narrative. Metrics leans on numbers, percentages and KPIs. Narrative tells the story first and brings the data in to support it.
Every slider starts in the middle, balanced, by default. So you only need to move the ones that matter to you and leave the rest where they are.
Saving your style
When you move a slider, the Save changes button wakes up. Hit it and Maia picks up the new style on her very next message, with no reload needed. Because these settings are global, they shape how she sounds across every channel at once: email, Slack, WhatsApp, voice, and her chat in the app.
