In short: If it is a designed thing at a fixed size, Sketch can probably make it.

People assume Sketch is for social posts. It is not: the same brief can come back as a poster, a pitch deck or a landing page.

It helps to think in two questions. What shape is the piece, and what sizes do you need it in.

1

One design, or a set

A single post is one design. A carousel, deck, guide or story set is a sequence, where each frame does one job and the set reads as one piece. Ask for a number and you get that number.

2

Storyboards for video

A storyboard is a sequence built to move: consistent world, palette and cast, each shot composed with room to animate. It is how a reel starts.

3

Scrolling pages

A landing page or an email comes back as one long page of stacked sections rather than separate frames.

4

Print and out of home

A4 and A3, flyers, posters, menus, business cards, postcards, tri-fold brochures and digital screens are all standard sizes you can pick. Print is not an afterthought here.

5

Ads, listings and slides

Banner sizes from leaderboard to skyscraper, marketplace listings for Amazon, Shopify, Etsy and eBay, and presentation slides in 16:9 or 4:3.

You do not choose a layout. Sketch picks the composition that suits the message, the format and the channel, drawing on a catalogue of around 25 proven ones, and builds it in your brand.
