In short: Grouping is automatic. Use the group header to collapse, download or delete.
Ask for a carousel across three channels and you get a lot of frames. Sketch keeps them in order by grouping them for you.
You do not group anything by hand. What matters is knowing what the groups are and what the header above each one does.
A group is one finished thing
Frames are gathered into the unit they belong to and labelled on the canvas as a Carousel, Banner set, Banner, Landing page or Video. Each group is one deliverable rather than a pile of images.
Collapse what you are not working on
Groups open expanded. Collapse the ones you have settled so the canvas stays readable while you work on the rest.
Work on the whole group at once
The header carries its own controls, so edit, publish, download or delete applies to the group rather than one frame. Downloading gives you a folder, and PDF is available where it makes sense.
Or take the lot
Downloading from the top bar zips the whole sketch with one folder per group, which is the version to send to whoever is placing the work.
Delete a whole group
If a direction is wrong, delete the group rather than picking off frames one at a time. The rest of the sketch is untouched.
Regenerating does not lose the previous version. It moves into the stack in the top bar, and you can bring an earlier one back as the active version at any time.
