In short: Flicks → The brief → Settings → Make the video. Flicks writes, designs and renders the film in the background, then emails you when it is ready.
Flicks makes a finished short film from a written brief. You say what the film is about and choose its shape. Flicks writes the script, plans the shots, designs the frames, cuts the film and renders it.
This happens in the background. You do not sit and watch. You get an email and an in-app notification when the film is ready.
Flicks is behind a feature flag. If you cannot see it in the left menu, it is not switched on for your workspace yet.
Open Flicks
Choose Flicks in the left menu. The brief box is at the top. Your finished and running films are listed under Your films.
Write the brief
Say what the film is about in your own words, up to 4,000 characters. Say the message and who it is for. Everything in the film comes from this brief.
Choose the kind of film
Under Settings, pick Kind of film: Social reel, Brand film, Explainer, Promo or Advert. Each kind has its own default length.
Pick the ratio and the length
Pick Ratio. 9:16 suits Reels, Stories and TikTok. 4:5 suits the Instagram and Facebook feed. 1:1 is a square post, and 16:9 suits YouTube and web. Then pick a Length from 15 to 60 seconds, or choose Let Maia decide.
Choose the voice
Voiceover is on by default. Pick a voice from the Voice list. Choose No voice for a film without narration.
Start the film
Press Make the video. The film appears as a card under Your films. The card shows which stage it is on, from Reading the brief to Rendering the video. Two films can run at once. Start a third and Protaigé asks you to wait for one to finish.
Come back when it is ready
You get an email and an in-app notification when the film is done. Open the card to watch it. If the card says Needs a look, the check found something the edit could not fix. Watch the film before you use it.
Stop, resume or delete a film
On the film page, press Stop to halt a running film. Press Resume to carry on with a stopped or failed film. Delete is in the film's menu. It removes the film and its video, and there is no undo.
If a film fails, the card says Failed and the film page shows What happened. Press Resume to try again. Or press Another like it to start a new film with the same brief and settings.
