In short: Right-click the image, or use BG Removal on the floating toolbar in video.
Background removal lives on the element rather than in a panel, which is worth knowing because there is no button for it in the sidebar. Right-click reaches it everywhere it exists, and in the video editor the floating toolbar over a selected image carries a BG Removal button too.
Select the image
Any image element on the canvas.
Right-click and remove the background
It processes in place, so the layout and the crop stay as they were.
Check the edges
Hair and fine detail are where cutouts show their working, so it is worth a look at full size before you move on.
It is not available on the static Sketch surface. The campaign editors have it, and so does a sketch opened as video, which is a distinction worth holding on to because both are called Sketch.
